Wild Roses — Vincent van Gogh

A huge Impressionist canvas print in green and olive. Its garden freshness and quiet green depth suit a wellness space, a private study or a bedroom, bringing living botanical calm without clamour.

Visual Presence

Open white dog-roses with soft yellow hearts scatter across a thicket of blue-green leaves, each frond flattened into a plane and ringed with a heavy dark outline. Behind the tangle, a pale green field stretches in loose horizontal strokes, lifting the blossoms forward. The mood is fresh yet dense — cool greens and bone-white held together by warm ochre stems threading through the foliage.

About the Art

Vincent van Gogh painted Wild Roses at Saint-Remy-de-Provence, where he had admitted himself to the psychiatric clinic and worked in its gardens whenever he was able. He rendered the fragile petals naturally while treating the surrounding leaves as flat fields of colour bound by strong outlines, a device drawn from the Japanese prints he admired. The canvas passed through his brother Theo and their mother, was later cared for by Jo van Gogh-Bonger, and entered the Vincent van Gogh Foundation, held today at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
