Crucifixion with Darkened Sun — Egon Schiele
A large Expressionist canvas print in pink and green. The dusty rose sky fills the top half and the green meadow holds the base, so an entryway, a study or a hotel corridor turns quiet and dusk-lit, with two dark crosses cutting the pink as tall vertical lines.
Visual Presence
Hung large in an entryway, the flat dusty rose of the sky spreads a soft dusk-coloured light, so the wall glows faintly instead of bouncing the lamps back. The two dark crosses run the full height of the canvas and read from the far end of a hallway, which makes a narrow space feel taller. The rest — the green meadow, the pale halo, the eclipsed purple sun — only arrives up close, so people who pass it every day keep finding something.
About the Art
Egon Schiele (1890–1918), Expressionism, painted 1907. Egon Schiele (1890-1918), Expressionist, painted 1907. We chose it because it is Schiele at seventeen, still a student at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, painting what no teacher set him: Golgotha in a dusty rose evening over a green meadow, the sun a dead purple disc, the only true light a pale halo behind Christ's head. It is one of his earliest surviving oils, and a religious subject he rarely returned to. Oil on canvas laid down on board, 41 by 41 centimetres, signed SCHIELE EGON and dated 07. It passed from the artist's estate to the Vienna collector Heinrich Rieger, and is now in a private Austrian collection.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
Production: 1–3 weeks depending on finish (rolled fastest, framed longest).
