About the Art
Paul Klee (1879–1940) was a Swiss-German painter, theorist, and Bauhaus master whose intuitive, sign-making approach influenced 20th-century abstraction. This untitled 1930 work belongs to his mature period at the Bauhaus and (after 1931) the Düsseldorf Academy, when his compositions distilled into floating colour fields and symbolic glyphs. Klee believed art should 'make the invisible visible' — his small-format paintings combine childlike directness with deep formal control.
