Interlaced Figures on Orange — Paul Klee

An oversized Modern Abstract canvas print in orange and pink. Its warmth and buoyant rhythm enliven a family living room, creative studio or hospitality space, bringing colour and good humour to a wide wall.

Visual Presence

A broad band of warm orange runs across the top like a bright sky, beneath which a lively mosaic of coloured planes locks together — pink, olive-green, red, mauve and grey. Rounded lozenges of orange and gold read as heads and joints, linking limb-like bands into a rhythm of stylised figures. The palette is warm and saturated, the mood playful and buoyant.

About the Art

Paul Klee built many late compositions from simple coloured planes and heavy, rhythmic lines, reducing figures to a shorthand of bands, wedges and rounded marks that hover between abstraction and life. Warm oranges, reds and yellows — hues he connected to the light of his 1914 Tunisia journey with August Macke, which he later described as a turning point in his relation to colour — recur in his work, set against cooler greens and greys. Interlocking figures reading as a loose procession reflect his documented habit of treating the human form as a pattern of colour and movement rather than a portrait.
