Visual Presence

A ghostly green-grey head in a pale domed hat floats against a deep black void, its fine cross-hatched surface glowing like something scratched from darkness. A red mask frames wide blue eyes at the face. Around it hover crescents, cones and small discs in rust, indigo and yellow, like planets in a private cosmos. The mood is nocturnal, strange and quietly luminous.

About the Art

Paul Klee sets a solitary head adrift in a black, star-scattered field, ringing it with celestial signs — crescent moons, cones and small orbs that turn the portrait into a horoscope. He drew the luminous, hatched surfaces by working light lines into a dark ground, giving the figure its spectral, engraved shimmer. The face, masked in red with startled blue eyes, sits between the human and the otherworldly, in keeping with Klee's lifelong play between the everyday and the cosmic. Made in gouache and ink, the work treats identity as something written in the stars. It is held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Oak Framed Canvas: Our framed canvas prints are expertly stretched onto sturdy thick timber stretcher bars and finished with your choice of premium oak floater frames in white, black, or natural finishes. The frames are 1 cm wide and 5.5 cm deep, with a sleek 0.5 cm gap between the canvas and frame. This design adds 3 cm to the overall dimensions of the print, creating a refined and modern presentation.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4 cm (1.57 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.

Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.

For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.

If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.

Examples:

A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.

This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
