Presence

A vertical work in mixed media — acrylic, ink, and rice paper collage on linen canvas. Two dark silhouette figures move through a layered landscape of yellow, green, red, and grey terrain. The mixed media surface creates a geological texture — collaged rock and earth layered beneath and around the walking forms. Mineral and earth pigments throughout give the work a grounded material density. The vertical format pulls the eye along the path from foreground soil up through the shifting topography above.

Art Story

I painted two figures walking through land that looked different at every angle. The ground was not one thing — it was layers of what came before. I walked a path like this once, where every step confirmed I was going the right way and every step was still work. The ease and the effort existed at the same time. That is what becoming a path feels like.

Spatial Function

Path Becoming functions as a catalyst in transitional environments — hallways, studios, workspaces, and rooms where forward movement is a daily practice. The vertical composition creates an axial pull that directs attention upward and outward. The terrain shifts act as a visual metaphor for progressive disclosure: what is visible depends on where you are standing. Recommended for spaces where active work, creative practice, or ongoing building is happening.
