Waterfall in the Alps — Bohumil Kubišta
An oversized Cubist canvas print in brown and white. The white fall of water down the middle is the only bright thing in it, so at two metres tall it pulls every eye in a dining room, a boardroom or a hotel reception straight to the centre of the wall, while the brown rock facets around it keep the rest of that wall dark and still.
Visual Presence
The white water dropping down the centre is the one light in the picture, so printed two metres and up it works on a wall the way a single tall window does: a dining room or a reception reads focused rather than busy, with the whole room pulling to one point. The brown and near-black rock takes up most of the canvas and throws almost no colour back into the space, which is why this one sits well on a warm or dark-toned wall where a bright painting would argue with the room. From across the room it reads as a mountain sheared into flat planes, and only when you walk up to it do you find the small train crossing the viaduct above the fall, which is what keeps it worth sitting in front of for an hour.
About the Art
Bohumil Kubišta (1884–1918), Expressionism, painted 1912. Bohumil Kubišta (1884–1918), Czech Cubism, painted 1912. We chose it because Kubišta took Cubism somewhere Picasso and Braque never did, out of the studio and into a mountain gorge. He had founded Osma, the Eight, with Emil Filla and Antonín Procházka, and what separates his faceting from the Paris pioneers is the colour and the subject: real rock, real falling water, a real train on a viaduct above it. He joined the army the year after painting this and died in the 1918 influenza pandemic, aged thirty-four. Oil on canvas, 76.5 by 61 centimetres, National Gallery Prague, inv. O 14388.

Each print is custom stretched and framed at our Melbourne facility. Every piece is cut and assembled by hand, to ensure the highest quality finish.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
Production: 1–3 weeks depending on finish (rolled fastest, framed longest).
