About this Artwork

This work emerged from a decision to carry less in order to climb higher. The climb showed what was actual weight and what was stored fear pretending to be necessary. Less is more — not as philosophy but as the body's relief when the load drops away. Each piece let go made the next step possible. Gestural black ink lines move across layered fields of gold and earth.

Visual Presence

Horizontal and gestural. Black ink calligraphic strokes move across layered washes of gold, brown, and ochre, with touches of blue, teal, and green threading through. The surface is built from many layers — wash beneath, gestural ink above, with bird-like and animal forms emerging from the strokes. Strong directional momentum carries left to right.

Where It Belongs

Long horizontal walls, transitional spaces — corridors, studio rooms, large landings. Rooms that benefit from energy and direction. The work carries movement through a space rather than calming it; best where the eye is invited to travel.
