Visual Presence

A dreamlike river valley glows beneath a pastel sky of yellow, mint and lilac, distant blue hills rising behind a dark treeline as the water catches a wash of golden, peach light. The foreground is an intricate tapestry of rocky cliffs and dense vegetation — coral, jade, ochre and grey — with slender trees and a bare, gnarled branch reaching across the scene. About the Art

Part landscape, part abstract botanical reverie, the painting holds two registers at once: an observed river valley and an invented, heightened one.
