About this Artwork

A man drowning in his own success. The suit, the briefcase, the open mouth — everything built perfect from the outside, going under from the inside. This work meets a moment in current culture: people tired of political lies, tired of the material pursuit sold as success. The rules followed to climb up are the same ones submerging the climber. Recognition, not judgement. A figure suspended in red water, suit and briefcase submerged with him, open mouth at the surface. The painting holds quiet recognition rather than dramatisation.

Visual Presence

Saturated red water dominates the lower two-thirds; the figure's pale shape is anchored at centre, descending. Gold flecks scatter through the water like memory or interference. Above the surface, a softer wash holds the upper edge. Strong central composition with gravitational pull downward.

Where It Belongs

Contemplative spaces — meditation rooms, studios, intimate living areas where the work can be sat with. Best on a wall that receives directional light to surface the gold flecks. Not for high-traffic decorative spaces; this work asks for attention and rewards it.

Every Limited Edition print includes a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The certificate carries Summer Jiang's signature, the edition number (e.g. 12 of 49), title, and date. The canvas itself is also signed on the verso in permanent ink for archival protection.

The certificate arrives sealed in a dark envelope, separate from the artwork.

Summer Jiang trained at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). A committed camper and hiker, she works in large-scale acrylic, translating the colour and movement of the Australian landscape into pieces built to hold a wall.
