Visual Presence
A steep mountain flank fills the frame in deep amethyst and slate-violet, its face broken by a glowing patch of coppery rose where light catches the rock. Behind it a snow-white ridge rises in confident strokes against a clear band of aqua sky. The palette is cool and mineral — purple, bone-white and pale turquoise held in still, high-altitude air.
About the Art
Nicholas Roerich painted this close study of Himalayan rock and snow during the years he spent in the Kullu Valley of northern India, where the mountains became his lifelong subject. Working in tempera, he pared the range down to essentials — a single violet slope, a snow ridge, a strip of luminous sky — favouring flat, saturated colour and clean silhouette over topographic detail. The work belongs to the Symbolist current that runs through his Himalayan output, in which the peaks stand less as geography than as an emblem of height, stillness and the sacred. Rendered in his characteristic mineral palette of purple, white and cool blue.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4 cm (1.57 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
