Jac van Looij's Blooming Clover — a late Hague School meadow capturing the brief Dutch midsummer wildflower season, as an oversized canvas print.

Visual Presence

A sun-warmed Dutch meadow blooms with pale pink clover blossoms across the entire foreground, swept in loose impressionist strokes. Beyond, the meadow softens into pale green and ochre, with a hazy horizon line under a quiet pearl-blue sky. The atmosphere is warm and still — late spring in the Dutch lowlands.

About the Art

Jacobus 'Jac' van Looij (1855–1930) was a Dutch landscape painter, writer and member of the Tachtigers literary movement. Trained at the Rijksakademie, he combined a literary sensibility with quiet observational landscape painting in the spirit of the late Hague School. Blooming Clover captures the brief midsummer wildflower season across uncultivated Dutch pasture — a subject van Looij returned to throughout his career.
