Spring (The Procession) — Joseph Stella
A giant Futurist canvas print in green and blue. The whole surface is cut into small glass-like facets, so the colour arrives scattered rather than in blocks, and a dining room, a hotel reception or a boardroom gets a wall that runs pale green at the top, burns white and gold through the middle, then drops into deep blue at floor level.
Visual Presence
Printed nearly two metres tall, the green and powder-blue facets filling the top two thirds keep a dining wall light, so the room reads brighter under lamplight instead of heavier. The white and gold sails cut through the middle at standing eye level and are the one hot passage in the piece, so from the doorway that band is what carries and everything else settles behind it. The dark blue and black wedges massed along the bottom give the print a base to stand on, which is what lets it hold a tall narrow wall on its own — a chimney breast, a stair return, the strip between two windows.
About the Art
Joseph Stella (1877–1946), Modern, painted 1915. Joseph Stella (1877–1946), Futurism, painted 1915. We chose it because Stella is known for the Brooklyn Bridge and Coney Island, and here he turns the same shattered, prismatic method away from the machine and back onto the Italy he emigrated from as a young man. Yale University Art Gallery holds it as oil on canvas, 191 by 102 centimetres, signed lower left; the fuller title recorded for it is Spring (The Procession — A Chromatic Sensation). It reached Yale in 1941 with the Société Anonyme collection, built by Katherine Dreier, Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray. Accession 1941.692.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4.2 cm (1.65 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
Production: 1–3 weeks depending on finish (rolled fastest, framed longest).
Delivery: Free Australia-wide, fully insured. International rolled freight available — see Global Rolled Shipping for quote.
