Visual Presence
A sweeping seaside idyll unfolds in fine hatched strokes of yellow, violet, ochre and grey-blue, its figures spread across a golden shore beside a pale, tranquil bay dotted with sailing boats. People read, gather flowers, play, tend children and stroll among framing trees, one bough curving in from the upper left and a broad pine crowning the right. The palette is warm and gently faded — sunlit gold and soft mauve held in a calm, luminous stillness.
About the Art
Paul Signac, a founder of Neo-Impressionism, conceived this radiant vision of an idealised society at leisure by the sea, drawn from his large canvas of the same subject painted at Saint-Tropez. The composition reflects the anarchist and utopian-socialist convictions he held in the 1890s: a future 'golden age' in which work, rest, art and play coexist in harmony. He translated the scene into this colour lithograph, spreading its many small human activities — foraging, dancing, reading, tending children — across a sunlit coast. Impressions are held in collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and The Clark.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4 cm (1.57 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
