Visual Presence
A timber house with a raised turret stands among bare birches, its roofs and the surrounding ground blanketed in fresh snow. A pale aqua picket fence runs across the foreground, a dark-clad figure pausing at its open gate. The palette is frosted and luminous — white snow and silvered birch bark laced with soft aqua, pale blue and warm brown accents.
About the Art
Stepan Kolesnikoff (1879-1955), trained in Odessa and at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St Petersburg, was much admired by Ilya Repin and became known above all for his rendering of the Russian and Ukrainian countryside through its seasons. Melting snow, floods and the quiet of village life under winter were among his most enduring subjects, built from carefully controlled shifts in value and restrained colour. After emigrating in 1919 he settled in Belgrade, where he continued to paint and undertake decorative work until his death. A winter village scene of this kind sits squarely within the snow subjects for which he was best regarded.

Stretched Canvas Construction
Each canvas is mounted on 4 cm (1.57 in) deep stretcher bars made from Australian pine. The canvas is tightly stretched and wrapped around these solid wooden frames, giving it a strong, gallery-grade structure with noticeable depth — ideal for large or statement pieces.
This thickness adds durability and a clean, modern presentation, allowing the artwork to stand out beautifully without additional framing.
Edge Style
By default, all stretched canvases use a mirrored edge for a clean, continuous look. If you prefer a black or white edge, please mention it in your checkout notes; otherwise, the mirrored edge will be applied automatically.
For sizes exceeding 200x300 cm, we will split the canvas into two seamless panels to meet courier shipping limitations. The split is crafted to ensure the image remains continuous and flawless across both panels. You can choose to display the panels with or without a gap for different visual effects.
If you select the framed option, each panel will be framed separately to ensure secure shipping and easy handling.
Examples:
- A 240x300 cm artwork will be divided into two panels of 120x300 cm each.
- A 240x400 cm artwork will be split into two panels of 240x200 cm each.
This approach maintains the visual impact and flexibility of oversized pieces while accommodating shipping needs.
