About this artwork
Two forms hold the canvas in quiet equilibrium — an upper, weathered mass in bone, grey and soft gold, its surface scored and textured like a sun-bleached stone, resting above a solid black, river-rounded shape below. Fine looping white lines thread between them, tracing the tension and trust of one weight balanced on another. Set against a pale, atmospheric ground, the work distils the stillness of a stacked cairn: precarious and steady at once, a meditation on poise.
